It’s been a month since 178 children from across Ontario were whisked away on an Air Canada jet, bound for Florida. Having never been to Walt Disney World myself, I felt like the 179th child who was in complete awe of this amazing day. Seeing the beautiful smiles on these children’s faces continues to warm my heart every single day. Even as I type this, I’m choking back the tears. It was an emotional roller coaster for everyone involved, and it was a wonderful success!

The events started on May 8 with the out of town guests arriving at the Fairfield Inn for a welcome party. Everyone was ushered to bed around 8 pm, although I think a lot of people didn’t fall asleep due to sheer excitement! We were asked to meet at the lobby at 4:30 am for our Police escorted bus ride to the Air Canada hangar, where there was another party waiting for all the guests!

The plane boarded around 6:45 and we took off shortly after 7:00 am. As soon as the seatbelt sign went off, Crazy George started a pillow fight! We all enjoyed a full breakfast and were then treated to a toilet paper race, a conga line and many balloons popping. A sea of smiles filled the plane.

We arrived at Disney around 9:30 am, and each group went to their favourite rides, met their favourite characters, were treated to Ice Cream, drinks, lunch and dinner. At the end of the day, we all met up at the front of the Magic Kingdom to enjoy the electrical parade. The plane ride home was much quieter with almost all the children (and some of the adults) sleeping soundly. We got back to the hotel around 1:30 am. Having been up for almost 24 hours, we all crashed in our comfy beds and were treated to breakfast the next morning.

I’ve put a little slideshow together of some of the images I captured, however, there are many more. You can have a look at the albums posted on my Facebook page to see them all.

Finally, a big, HUGE, thank you to the entire Dreams Take Flight executive committee for choosing me as your photographer for this year’s trip, and for asking me back for next year’s trip! I’m looking forward to many more years of working with DTF to capture memories for these beautiful children!

Much love,
