Avelina's Beautiful Birth

On Saturday, August 13th, I had the pleasure of photographing the birth of Avelina, the third child to Dawn and Marcello. Words cannot explain the emotion felt in the room that morning, but I can say it was beautiful, empowering, breathtaking and amazing.

Thank you Dawn and Marcello for sharing this most intimate celebration of new life with me. I will never forget it!

And baby makes 5! {Caledon Newborn Photographer}

A few weeks ago, I photographed a wonderful belly painting session with S and her family. We really had a fun time! The baby boy inside that belly wasn’t due to arrive until last week, but, as we all know, sometimes baby has other ideas! He made an early arrival into the world weighing a whopping 8lbs 14oz at birth! Heavy D, as he’s been nicknamed, was a pure delight to photograph! After a few good meals from mom, he went right to sleep for me!

Thank you so much for choosing me as your newborn photographer, and thank you to your parents for letting us use their gorgeously lit home! You have a beautiful family!

Miss Mary-Rose

Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing 15 day old Mary-Rose. Mary-Rose, along with her mom and dad, are very dear to my heart. Laura and Andy are very dear friends to Shawn and I for the least 10 years. Everyone has been anticipating Mary-Rose’s arrival, and she was well worth the wait! She is very blessed to have such a loving family surrounding her. I am extremely pleased to blog these pictures for Laura and Andy and their family.

Lakeland made his arrival in to the world 9 days ago. What a gorgeous little boy he is, and his big brother, Mom and Dad couldn’t be more happier to welcome him into their beautiful home. I had a wonderful time being his newborn photographer, and can’t wait to see this little guy grow up! I was even lucky enough to get some smiles from him, with mom’s help of course!

Today I had the pleasure of photographing sweet Samantha who is just 9 days old! She is my first newborn for 2011 and so far the best of the year! Seriously though, Samantha was a perfect angel for her big moment, and mom and dad couldn’t be prouder. I have to admit, I enjoyed listening to Anne “awww” over the way I posed Samantha. It’s moments like that that remind me how lucky I am to have such wonderful clients, and be blessed with this wonderful job I have!

Hello Nicolas! {Toronto Newborn Photographer}

Today I had the pleasure of meeting Nicolas, and his mom, dad, Auntie Natasha and Grandpa during his first professional photo session! Nicholas also turned one month old today! Although he was a bit older than the other newborns I’ve photographed (two weeks and younger), he was just as sweet! I really enjoyed getting some awake shots today, and also got some really sweet sleepy shots too!

Thank you Lisa and Matt for inviting me into your home to share this special time in your life. I look forward to watching Nicolas grow up!

Twins for Christmas! {Oshawa Newborn Photographer}

Today, Emily Krbec and I made the trek out to Oshawa to photograph these sweet baby girls, just 16 days old! An early Christmas present for Joni, Trevor and big brother Tyler, these baby girls made us work hard for our shots. When one baby was asleep, the other was awake! Then that baby woke up just as the awake baby fell asleep! In the end, we did manage to get them both sleeping for the beautiful images we wanted to capture! Thank you so much Emily for your help today, and thank you Trevor & Joni for allowing us to capture these beautiful images for you! You have a beautiful family, and Joni, I hope you get your Christmas present!

8 days of sweetness! {Newmarket Newborn Photographer}

Today I battled rain, wind and snow (ok so I’m a bit over-dramatic sometimes) to photograph sweet baby Erika, the newest daughter of Scott and Tara, little sister to Leah and Josh! You may remember Tara from her Maternity session in the fall, and you may also know Tara who is a photographer in the Newmarket area!

Darling Erika was a wonderful model for me. She slept like an angel with her tummy full of milk and didn’t mind my cute hats or the Mongolian fur. At 8 days old, she was the perfect age at which to be photographed. It’s best to photograph newborns in the first two weeks of life!

Amazing Family {Brampton Newborn Photographer}

I’m the type of person who doesn’t want to have favourites because I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings. Today though, I have to say that this newborn session has been my favourite one so far. I really love capturing a family’s spirit. I want to capture who they are and not the fake smiles they are putting on for me. Time and time again, my client has passed on a perfectly nice picture of their child because the smile wasn’t genuine. I totally get that. When I was asked to be Finnlee’s newborn photographer, I knew that this session would be different. You’ll see why in a moment and understand why today’s session is one of my all-time favourites.

First, I need to give you a timeline! Eight days ago, Ms. Finnlee was born, at home, into her mother’s hands. I was hoping to be able to be there to capture the birth but it wasn’t meant to be. I was able to go over later in the day and capture these wonderful, 6 hour old images. I’ve already posted some on my Facebook page, but I waited to blog about it because I knew today’s newborn session was coming.

So, here she is on her birth day – October 1, 2010

This is our friend Shanta providing some post-natal doula care for Heather which includes a foot massage using essential oils to aid in the body’s recovery after child birth. Heather is a lucky girl!

Finnlee met her siblings immediately when she was born. Here a few pictures of them bonding.

Sigh. I could go on and on – so I will! I was truly honoured and humbled to be invited into Chris & Heather’s home to be able to capture these precious first moments after Finnlee’s birth. It was truly amazing.

Ok, that leads us to today, eight days later – the OFFICIAL newborn photo session. Like I said earlier, I knew that this wouldn’t be a typical pose the baby on the beanbag type of session. Although I did do a few on the beanbag, what you are about to see is real life, real feelings, just real. It was amazing to capture these today. Not sure if I’ve said that enough yet – amazing feels like an understatement!
