One of the biggest compliments as an artist is being recognized for your hard work and dedication to your craft. For me, that paid off on Saturday, April 23rd when I was presented with my photographic designation, Craftsman of Photographic Arts (CPA) by the Professional Photographers of Canada.

The CPA demonstrates the maker's ability to create outstanding images for their clientele. A PPOC Member must earn 500 Image Merits and 250 Service Merits in order to be awarded the CPA designation. Included in those image merits must be at least one accreditation in the many categories offered by the PPOC.

I joined the PPOC in December 2011 and earned my first accreditation in October 2012. I did not begin entering competition until 2015, however. At the time, I didn't think my work was good enough. I realize now, though, that entering competitions and receiving feedback about one's work is the best way to learn!

I want to thank my clients, family and friends who have encouraged me over the years. My next goal is my Masters of Photographic Arts.
